According to the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, eight of the 15 Soviet-era reactors located in the eastern European nation were disconnected from the power grid as of March 4. The nuclear reactors are located in four complexes spread across the country. At the Zaporizhzhia plant, located roughly 400 miles from Kyiv, five of the six reactors were reported to be offline. The attack on the plant by Russian forces caused global alarm, as its training facility was engulfed in flames due to shelling....

In a tweet on Wednesday, the Fresno County Fire Protection Unit wrote, “#ParsonsIncident Firefighters are at scene of a hazardous materials spill Hwy 198 x Parsons Road. One semi- overturned off the roadway, carrying 5,500 lbs of ammonium nitrate.” The tweet continued, “Hwy 198 closed in both directions.” KFSN-TV in Fresno, California reported the incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. local time this morning. A public information officer for Fresno County Fire Protection Unit informed Newsweek that California Highway Patrol officials have requested a hazmat unit to come and assist with the chemical spill, but noted that they expect a two-hour wait....

The Indian Express reported that the Zakir Hussain hospital had more than 150 COVID patients at the time, some of whom were in a critical condition on ventilator and oxygen support. The leak took place when an oxygen tanker was refilling the main storage tank at the hospital. The resulting loss of supply led to the deaths of several patients, officials said. “The oxygen supply was stopped for half an hour due to the leak, because of which those on the ventilator lost their lives,” said Kailash Jadhav, commissioner of Nashik Municipal Corporation, according to news website India Today....
