Maverick Mason Moreland, 35, of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, is accused of Assault Family Violence Dating and Criminal Mischief following an incident at the Happy Hut bar on West Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Providing further information to Kens 5, the San Antonio Police Department said that “an argument escalated to the point where the suspect assaulted the victim, punching her in the head and face.” Moreland has since been placed on unpaid administrative leave in accordance with Bexar County Civil Service rules....

On Monday, arresting officer Justin D’Amico acknowledged two key errors he made in filing the report on Garner’s death—writing that no physical force was used in the arrest and charging Garner with a tax-avoidance felony. Footage of the February 4 incident, which can be seen here, appears to show a police officer pinning a student, Adonis Tuggle, to the snowy ground went viral on social media. In a statement, Alaska State Troopers said the mother, who is a juvenile, was taken to a Fairbanks-area hospital Tuesday to be evaluated and receive care. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the troopers were notified of the baby, identified in a note as Teshawn, at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Roxy Lane, a Fairbanks resident, allegedly found him by a row of mailboxes near her home along with a note appearing to be from the baby’s family, sharing it to her Facebook account in a post that has since been deleted or made private....
Police said the mother was alone in the bedroom when she heard noises from inside the house. The mother became startled as she was not expecting anyone to come over. The mother said she then saw someone running into the bedroom, at which point she fired her .38 special handgun, hitting her daughter once. Police say they were called at around 9 p.m. to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue by the victim’s boyfriend....
Axon, a company that makes technology and weapons, will provide the cameras. The agency signed a contract with the company detailing the cameras will initially cost approximately $6.9 million, then will cost between $3.2 million and $3.3 million annually for the next four years, according to a statement from the ODRC. The statement said this move follows a successful pilot program the state ran from June to October of last year to test the effect of body cameras in two prisons and two parole authority offices....

The university announced the decision after its board of trustees conducted an executive session at the Longaberger Alumni House on Wednesday to hear the findings from an investigative panel appointed on Aug. 5. Marie Trainer from Stark County had just come back from a holiday in the Caribbean with her husband Matthew, when she started to feel sick. After her temperature spiked, she was taken to hospital, where she quickly developed sepsis. She deteriorated quickly and was put into a medically-induced coma as her limbs began turning necrotic and then gangrene set in. Doctors at Aultman Hospital tried to remove clots from her limbs but the damage to the tissue was too great and they had to amputate to save her life....
