He and another man, Malcolm Scott, were 17 when they were convicted of first-degree murder for killing 19-year-old Karen Summers and sentenced to life in prison plus 170 years....

Larry Porter, a police officer in Okmulgee County, has been looking for answers after he was left stricken on September 1. With the help of his fiancée, Porter was carried out of bed and taken to a nearby hospital where doctors tried to work out why he was struggling to move. They were not able to establish the cause but found that Porter’s potassium levels were extremely low and he was airlifted to the Hillcrest intensive care unit....

Members of the panel expressed doubts over the evidence used to prosecute Jones, 41, in the 1999 death of businessman Paul Howell. Jones continues to maintain his innocence, alleging he was framed by a former co-defendant through planted evidence, such as a bandanna and the gun used to kill Howell. “I continue to believe there is still doubt in this case,” said board member Kelly Doyle. Under the rules, public school teachers can’t cover eight specific concepts on race. This includes the idea that because of their race or sex, certain people can be inherently racist or sexist, even unknowingly. Additionally, the rules forbid teaching that certain students should feel at fault or uncomfortable because of their race or sex.
