Olympic First On The Horizon Breakdancing Provisionally Approved For 2024 Games

According to the Sports Business Journal, breakdancing has been provisionally approved for the 2024 Olympics. However, breakdancing wouldn’t be the only addition. Skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing were also approved and will debut in Tokyo next year. However, breakdancing would have to wait until the games are set in Paris. The recommendation came from the International Olympic Committee’s executive board in March. It said breakdancing, and the other sports approved, “offer the opportunity to connect with the young generation....

Olympics Winter Olympics 2002 Olympic Games Salt Lake City Utah Luge

Now, if a crash should happen, without any anticipation on your or my part, then an uncomfortable truth must be acknowledged by us both: crashes are pretty damn exciting. Particularly when no one gets hurt and they’re just good, rough-and-tumble, eye-filling fun. And that’s why my favorite part of the Winter Games thus far isn’t Fritz Strobl’s stunning victory in the downhill or Kelly Clark’s joyous gold medal in the halfpipe-it’s the nail-biting runs of the magnificently brave and stupendously terrible Asian lugers....

The former AS Roma winger’s 18 goals - in 23 games - in the English top-flight is only bettered by Harry Kane’s 21. However, the Los Angeles defender - on loan from Basel - is upbeat about his compatriot’s credentials to finish the season as the most productive marksman in the division. “I think he’s one of the best players in the world now. He had a very good season with Roma, and he’s doing even better with Liverpool now,” Gaber told ESPN....

Germany’s Bavarian health ministry said on Saturday that two confirmed cases arrived to Munich from South Africa on November 24. “The individuals have been in domestic isolation since Nov. 25 following a positive PCR test. Following reports of the new variant, the two individuals had the foresight to arrange for themselves to be tested for the variant,” a ministry spokesperson said in the statement. Fifty other passengers who were on the same flight that arrived at the Munich airport from Cape Town are currently quarantining in Bavaria....

On Campus Addicted To Exercise

School officials have been struggling since the mid-1990s with which role to play in dealing with overexercisers, a group particularly prominent in the stressful college environment. There are no hard numbers, but 44 percent of U.S. undergrads and graduate students say they know someone suffering from exercise bulimia, according to the National Eating Disorders Association. “It used to be too much drinking or drugs [to deal with stress],” says Lynn Grefe, NEDA’s CEO....

On Covid 19 Biden Inspires Fear While Trump Projects Confidence Opinion

On Wednesday, the Democratic Party contender was holed up in his bunker in Delaware, where he has spent most of the last six months. Biden had no big events planned. Instead, he was on light duties only. He did one press conference and, to the best of my knowledge, that was his sole public appearance. Everybody needs a rest day and, at 77 years of age, perhaps Biden could be forgiven for wanting to take it a little easy....

On The Other Side

Sydney began its existence as the place you were sent to to rot when Mother England didn’t want you. On Jan. 26, 1788, sailors raised a British flag on the shore of a sheltered inlet they called Sydney Cove. Today this is the business district, flanked on one side by the great cast iron span of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on the other by the even more famous Opera House....

One Congress Under God

Never before has the Congress responded so swiftly and decisively to a court ruling. Never mind that the decision issued by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is bound to be overturned, and not a single child will be denied the opportunity to recite the pledge. This was an issue made for political exploitation, and every politician who could get to a camera or issue a press release wanted a piece of the action....

One Easy Way To Strengthen The Abraham Accords Artificial Intelligence Opinion

The bill’s goal is to “leverage the experience, knowledge and expertise” of educational institutions and private businesses in the United States and Israel to pursue machine learning, image classification, object detection, speech recognition, natural language processing, data labeling, computer vision and model explainability and interpretability. Sen. Rubio stressed that the United States, and indeed the world, “benefit immensely when we engage in joint cooperation and partnerships with Israel, a global technology leader and our most important ally in the Middle East,” while also arguing that these bilateral research ties will help both nations stay ahead of China’s ever-growing technology threat....

One Night In Bangkok

The night market in Patpong is just spitting distance from the sex shows. Why gaze drunkenly at cheap flesh when you can pick up cheap booty? Clothing, CDs and trinkets, that is. Take a boat trip along the Chao Phraya River. A cheap and popular activity by day, it’s even prettier at night. And it’ll get you off those congested streets and sidewalks. Get a massage–a legitimate one. Or a facial, manicure or shave at one of the many after-hours beauty salons....

Op Ed America S Health Care Depends On Women

Despite the ongoing challenges with COVID-19, in less than two years’ time, the United States has nearly returned to full employment with an unemployment rate of 3.9%, compared to 14.8% in April of 2020. It is a much speedier recovery than what was seen after the 2007-2009 global financial crisis. However, this success story is overlooking the lack of women currently in the workplace, whose labor force participation has hit a 33-year low....

Operation Warp Speed Was A Tremendous Success. Let S Build On It Opinion

The successes of OWS are even more remarkable given the sheer number of mistakes made by public health experts during this crisis. They advocated for protracted lockdowns that resulted in the sharpest economic contraction in American history and opposed every attempt to ameliorate these restrictions....

Opportunistic Ehlers Leads Winnipeg Jets To Victory

That was especially true at the beginning of the third period, when Nikolaj Ehlers pounced on a bad back pass to score Winnipeg’s second goal of the night. The 21-year-old Jets forward stole the puck just inside the Wild blueline, turned defenseman Mikael Granlund inside-out, then proceeded to deke past goaltender Alex Stalock before slipping a backhander into the gaping net. Ehlers’ goal ultimately ended up being the winner after Luke Kunin put Minnesota on the board at 5:36 in the third....
