Joey Casselbery, a sophomore first baseman for the Pennsylvania university, sent a vulgar word from the Twitter account @BigCass24 criticizing the announcement that the Disney Channel is making a movie about Davis. The account has since been deleted, but screen captures of the tweet show that the player used the offensive language.

“Disney is making a move about Mo’ne Davis?” the tweet read. “WHAT A JOKE. That s— got rocked by Nevada.”
Bloomsburg’s athletic department announced Casselberry’s dismissal Saturday via Twitter, saying it was “deeply saddened” by the player’s words, which “do not represent us.”
Davis, a native of Philadelphia, became the first female to pitch a shutout in the LLWS last summer. She was named the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year for her performance and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
UPDATE: Upon hearing about Casselberry’s removal from the team, Davis sent a letter to the university asking to reinstate him.
