Simmons, one of the defensive leaders for the No. 21 Cowboys and their active leader in career tackles (189) and career tackles for loss (26), made the announcement on his Instagram account Tuesday. He had 14 tackles this season.

The Cowboys (5-0) will take on West Virginia in a Big 12 Conference game Saturday.
