In the video, captioned “I tried to get a cute reunion video… I guess this will just have to do,” posted by Mackenna Myers, she can be seen in an airport with a group of friends, with her phone filming propped up a few yards away.

Seconds into the video, the friends are suddenly obscured from view by a well-meaning stranger. The elderly man walks over to the phone and exclaims, “Somebody’s left a phone”, before bending over out of view. He then spends the next 20 seconds standing in front of the camera, while the “reunion” goes on behind him, where the friends can be seen hugging another girl.

One young girl that is in view of the camera can be seen looking back at the phone with a worried look on her face clearly aware of the situation, but saying nothing to the others. Shortly afterwards, Myers can be seen walking back to the phone, saying to the man, “Just going to grab this” to which he replies, “Oh there it is.”

Users in the comments were divided in their reactions to the video. One user commented “omg hahaha you can’t even be mad, that was too cute, ‘someone left their phone’”.

User Elin Hagström disagreed, “Literally no, he could have looked around and put two and two together”, while StonyQuilter said, “am i the only one that feels like he knew exactly what he was doing? at the end? like oh yea, there’s your phone. come on!”

Some users believed that Myers’ behavior when retrieving her phone was rude. User Gracie commented, “Seriously..kind of rude, the poor guy was just being nice”, while another user said, “The younger generation is oblivious to kindness.”

Generation Z are defined as those who are born in the late 1990s and early 2000s, while Baby Boomers are those born between 1946 and 1964.

Predating the Boomer generation are those known as the Silent Generation, of which President Joe Biden is one. They are born between 1928 and 1945, making the youngest 77. According to the Pew Research Center, they are the “children of the Great Depression and World War II” and their ‘silent’ label refers to their image as conformist and civic-minded.

“Time Magazine coined the term in a 1951 article describing the emerging generation of the time. The Silent label is not widely recognized by the public: fewer say they have heard of it than the labels for any other of the living generations.”

User Johnny Johnny pointed out, “honestly though don’t think we would’ve watched your reunion video if it wasn’t for him.”

Newsweek has tried to contact Myers for comment.
