“I just want to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. I’m overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. I look forward to coming back stronger than ever. Thank you.”

The Pacers defeated the Knicks 102-86 Wednesday night, but Copeland was heavy on the players’ minds. Teammates Paul George and Solomon Hill wore a headband in honor of Copeland and talked about his absence after the game.

“I sit next to Cope every game,” George said, via The Indianapolis Star. “He’s right next to me. I feel like all of our conversations are on the bench so it was tough not seeing him and not having him right next to me. It’s just unfortunate, he’s the last guy I’d ever expect that to happen to.”

In addition to having a puncture to his diaphragm, Copeland suffered an injury to his left elbow. He had a surgical procedure on his elbow and it was heavily bandaged after, according to the Star.
