However in Sunday’s NFC Championship with the Packers ahead 19-14 and just over two minutes, remaining, Bostick — instead of blocking — attempted to field Steven Hauschka’s onside kick. The ball bounced off his facemask and into the hands of Seattle’s Chris Matthews.
“I just feel like if I was able to do my job, Jordy would’ve caught the ball and the game would’ve been over,” Bostick told the media after Seattle’s 28-22 victory. “I felt like I had my hands on the ball, it just slipped away, I guess. … it wasn’t my job at all, I was supposed to block.”
After the recovery, the Seahawks needed just four plays and 50 yards to take a 22-19 lead on Marshawn Lynch’s 24-yard touchdown run with 1:25 remaining.
“The game, my teammates, everybody in Green Bay, my family, I feel like I let everybody down,” a dejected Bostick said. “I’ll just do my best to try to move on from it.”
