Masthay pulled up on what would have been his fourth punt of the half and successfuly ran for a first down on a fake, just 4:49 before halftime. Going around left end on a fourth-and-2, he made his gain of 7 yards to the Cardinals’ 48 look very easy.

That was unlike anything in Green Bay’s passing game so far against the Cardinals’ pass defense. But so much for it being a spark of any kind. Despite the conversion, Aaron Rodgers was sacked twice on the second-chance possession, forcing Masthay to actually punt four plays later.

Masthay had a productive half, averaging 43 yards and pinning Arizona once inside the 20. Unfortunately, nothing else really worked for the Packers’ very non-explosive attack in falling behind 17-0 after 30 minutes.
