Jackson, who spent nine seasons with the Rams after being selected in the first round of the 2004 draft, played for the Falcons from 2013-14 before being released this past offseason. He had a string of eight straight 1,000-yard seasons but averaged just 46 yards per game in his two seasons with Atlanta. He has not yet played in 2015.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels coached Jackson in St. Louis in 2011, so that familiarity could be beneficial as the Patriots try to add depth behind Bolden, Iosefa and White in their quest to make another Super Bowl run.
