Officials say that one officer has died in a stabbing and that the suspect was shot and killed at the scene.
However, during a press briefing Tuesday afternoon, Pentagon Force Protection Agency Chief Woodrow Kusse would not confirm nor deny any reports of deaths or injuries.
He did say there were “several casualties.” While there is no longer a safety threat in the area, Kusse said the investigation is still ongoing.

“This morning at about 10:37 a.m. a Pentagon police officer was attacked on the metro bus platform. Gunfire was exchanged and there were several casualties. The incident is over. The scene is secure and there is no continuing threat,” Kusse said.
When pressed for more details, said the investigation was ongoing and the information he had was “preliminary.”
Kusse did, however, dismiss reports that there is a suspect on the run.
“We are not actively looking for another suspect at this time,” he said.
He also added that the Federal Burea of Investigation is now leading the investigation.
A Pentagon officer was stabbed during the violent scene at the transit station and later died, according to officials who were not authorized to discuss the matter and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
WJLA journalist Sam Ford was stationed outside the forensics lab building of the D.C. medical examiner’s office. He reported that a motorcade processional from various law enforcement agencies escorted the van from the hospital.
Ford described the scene as a “solemn ceremony.”
He added that this is a typical scene for a fallen officer.
There is no official report yet on whether an officer was killed in the Pentagon shooting.
Reports show officers from D.C. Metro and Pentagon police as well as the Secret Service waiting around the hospital.
It is unclear who, if any of the victims of the Pentagon shooting, were transported here.
According to reporter Lucus Tomlinson, the two officials were at their regular meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby is still sceduled to have his briefing at 2:30 p.m.
The shooter was shot by a different Pentagon police officer and did not get inside the Pentagon building, a Pentagon Force Protection Agency official told POLITICO reporter Lara Seligman.
At least one person was injured in the incident, according to two people familiar with the shooting, who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release information publicly.
Arlington Fire and EMS said they encountered “multiple patients.” The scene is still active.
All buses are being diverted to Pentagon City Station, according to Arlington Alerts.
